An ActiveCampaign alternative is any tool that can take over your email marketing, list management and automated follow-up — and for small teams in Taiwan and Hong Kong, the deciding factors are usually a Chinese interface, local-currency pricing, and whether you can follow up on LINE, SMS and WhatsApp directly. ActiveCampaign is a strong product, but it isn't the right fit for everyone. Below we cover what it does well and who should stay, compare Mailchimp, Kit, Brevo, Newsleopard, Crescendo Lab MAAC, Omnichat and X Lead Funnel by fit, and finish with a full migration checklist.

All vendor details reflect each official website as of July 2026. Pricing and features change, so double-check before you decide.

What does ActiveCampaign do well?

To be fair up front: ActiveCampaign is one of the most respected marketing automation platforms, and plenty of teams are well served by it.

  • Automation depth. Visual workflows branch on behaviour, tags, fields and timing, and Plus and higher plans allow unlimited actions per automation.
  • CRM and sales. Sales pipelines, deals and lead scoring are built in, with enhanced CRM add-ons for teams where marketing and sales share one customer record.
  • Deliverability. ActiveCampaign emphasises sender authentication (DKIM, DMARC), reputation management and detailed sending reports.
  • Integrations. Its marketplace lists more than 1,000 apps, and Zapier, Make or the API cover the rest.
  • WhatsApp. Native WhatsApp messaging launched in July 2025, with interactive flows built inside the platform.

Why do teams in Taiwan and Hong Kong look for alternatives?

These are the four reasons small businesses and marketers raise most often.

1. Contact-based pricing grows with your list

ActiveCampaign's plans (Starter, Plus, Pro, Enterprise) are priced by contact tier, from under 500 up to more than 250,000, and quoted in currencies such as USD, EUR and GBP — not NT$ or HK$. As your list grows, or if you keep dormant contacts around, you move up a tier; add exchange rates and overseas card fees and the budget gets harder to predict.

2. No Chinese interface

ActiveCampaign's help center lists 14 fully supported interface languages, including English, French, German and Spanish. Simplified Chinese is listed as no longer supported, and there is no Traditional Chinese. That's fine if the owner runs the account, but it's a hurdle when you hand work to an assistant or part-timer.

3. LINE isn't a native channel

In Taiwan most customers are on LINE; in Hong Kong it's mostly WhatsApp. ActiveCampaign now has native WhatsApp, but at the time of writing its official marketplace has no LINE app, so LINE follow-up means a third-party tool or a custom integration.

4. SMS and forms need extra work

SMS is a paid add-on. According to the help center's country list, messages to Taiwan and Hong Kong are sent from a US number, and SMS to Taiwan containing any link is blocked — so no booking or coupon links. If you win customers through bookings, coupon claims or event sign-ups, you may also need a separate form tool.

Who should stay on ActiveCampaign?

Switching has a cost. We'd suggest staying if:

  • You've built many multi-branch automations and they work well.
  • Your sales team relies on its pipelines, deals and scoring.
  • Your customers mostly use email and WhatsApp, and LINE isn't critical.
  • Your team is comfortable in English and USD pricing fits the budget.
  • You depend on official integrations like Shopify or Salesforce that would ripple through your workflow.

If most of these apply, optimising your current setup beats migrating.

Choosing an ActiveCampaign alternative by fit

A few rules of thumb:

  • You only need email and language isn't an issue: Mailchimp, Kit and Brevo are all mature. Brevo charges by sends rather than contacts, which helps when your list is big but you email it infrequently.
  • You need a Chinese interface and NT$ invoicing: Newsleopard focuses on email and SMS, charging per email with no cap on list size.
  • LINE is your main channel and you're a larger brand: Crescendo Lab MAAC is built around LINE Official Accounts; Omnichat unifies LINE, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and WeChat conversations.
  • You're a small team that wants one tool to capture and follow up: read on for X Lead.

Where does X Lead Funnel fit?

X Lead isn't trying to be a bigger ActiveCampaign. It's built so solopreneurs, studios and SMBs can run "capture leads → organise customers → follow up automatically" in one tool with a Traditional Chinese interface.

  • Forms first. Seven lead form types — general inquiry, booking, coupon claims, event registration, surveys, voting and a mini shop — create customer records automatically.
  • Pocket CRM. Contacts are tagged by source, behaviour and survey answers, with source tracking and exportable reports.
  • Multichannel follow-up. Email, SMS/MMS, LINE and WhatsApp live on one platform, with drip sequences and segmented broadcasts — see omnichannel messaging automation.
  • Open API. The CRM API syncs contacts and tags from your POS or membership system; the Messaging API triggers email and SMS sends.
  • Local pricing. Subscription plans can be shown in HKD, TWD or USD, and there's a free plan.

And the honest limits:

  • LINE and WhatsApp require integration and are available on subscription (paid) plans only; SMS, MMS, LINE and WhatsApp messages are charged by credits.
  • If you need very complex multi-branch automation, full sales pipeline and deal management, or a thousand ready-made integrations, ActiveCampaign is still the deeper product.

Migrating off ActiveCampaign: a 7-step checklist

Seven steps to migrate off ActiveCampaign: export contacts and tags, map automations, rebuild forms, authenticate your domain, warm up gradually, run both in parallel, cut over
Seven steps to move from ActiveCampaign to a new tool
  1. Export contacts and tags. Export to CSV with tags, custom fields, subscription and consent status, plus unsubscribes and bounces. People who opted out must not start receiving messages just because you changed tools.
  2. Map your automations. List every automation with its trigger, wait times and message content, then rebuild each as a sequence in the new tool — and drop the ones nobody triggers. For patterns, see five drip follow-up sequence templates.
  3. Rebuild your forms. Recreate forms in the new tool and update the links on your website, LINE Official Account menu, Instagram bio and QR codes. Keep your original consent wording.
  4. Authenticate your sending domain. Add SPF, DKIM and DMARC records in DNS so the new tool can send as your domain without landing in spam.
  5. Warm up gradually. Start with contacts who recently opened or clicked, increase volume step by step, and watch bounce and complaint rates before scaling.
  6. Run both in parallel. For 2–4 weeks, send new leads to the new tool while old automations finish for existing contacts; compare opens, bounces and form conversion.
  7. Cut over. Once new forms and sequences are working, switch off the old forms and automations, keep a full export as a backup, and only then cancel ActiveCampaign.

List quality affects deliverability after the move too — see how to build and maintain an email list.

FAQ

Does ActiveCampaign have a Chinese interface?

Not at the time of writing. The help center's 14 fully supported interface languages don't include Chinese; Simplified Chinese is listed as no longer supported (it may still appear in account settings), and there's no Traditional Chinese.

Can ActiveCampaign send LINE messages?

Its official marketplace had no LINE app at the time of writing, so you'd need a third-party tool or a custom API integration. The messaging app ActiveCampaign supports natively is WhatsApp.

What's a good Mailchimp alternative for Taiwan?

Mailchimp has no Chinese interface and its SMS doesn't cover Taiwan or Hong Kong. For a Chinese interface plus SMS, look at Newsleopard; for forms, CRM and LINE in one tool, look at X Lead; for email only with a big list, Brevo's send-based pricing is another option.

How do I choose an email marketing tool with a Chinese interface?

Check three things: which channel your customers use (LINE in Taiwan, WhatsApp in Hong Kong), your list size and sending frequency, and who will actually operate the system. Email and SMS first: Newsleopard. LINE-centric larger brands: Crescendo Lab MAAC or Omnichat. Small teams capturing leads with forms and following up across channels can sign up free and try X Lead.

Will migrating from ActiveCampaign hurt deliverability?

It can dip briefly. Authenticate SPF, DKIM and DMARC first, warm up with your most engaged contacts, and run both tools in parallel for a few weeks, and the impact is usually minimal.
